I had the pleasure of attending an event put on at Kings Valley Charter School. Nash(a former guest of Yakkin With Nick) put on KV's first annual Can Jam, where a few artists got on stage to play music. It was a charity event, to get into the event we had to bring a can of food for the food bank. I had a wonderful time and got to interview the artists after the show. This interview is with Professor Nash(back by popular demand) and Andi Beck, both very talented artists that I've known for a long time. The first interview was done with the guys from Glide Divine. They describe themselves as hippy-ish and psychedelic, which is clear in their appearance and sound. My grandfather, a listener, gave me a suggestion to talk about expectations on a show. I just now realized I didn't fully answer his questions that I read on the show, but I think this presentation is value and I will have to do another show on what it's like to be young and meeting expectations.  I go over what expectations are, compare them to obligations, go over examples, and then talk about how useful they are. 

Today I talk about how I've managed(lack thereof actually) my animals and their pastures and how I have improved and plan on improving my management. Part of that process is learning how to grow grass, and I really didn't touch on that in this episode as much as I could. I think what I spoke on was actually more valuable than the details on grass growth. I may do a different show on growing grass, but I wanted to stick with my lame joke in the beginning.  This is a show for new farmers and ranchers and people interested in my work on Hazelton Farms.

Yes, it's true, yak meat is the best. I love yak meat, even putting aside biases. I think our meat is some of the healthiest and best tasting meat you can find. When I discovered Brian had some qualms with stoicism, I challenged him to hop on Skype with me to tell them to my face!  The conversation ended up being quite informative, and we agreed more than I would think. Authenticity, being true to yourself, is a big deal to me. This is partly why I chose to pursue a non-scripted unedited format for this show. I want to be who I really am all the time, I want to be comfortable in all situations. This isn't practical 100% of the time, but most of the time I think it is beneficial and I want to pursue being true to myself. 

I was inspired by a conversation with a friend about politics, liberty, and rural lifestyles to talk about something that I have on my mind a lot. I feel that the rural lifestyle is disappearing, and I don't like that. Maybe I'm being impractical and pessimistic, but I really like living in the wooded hills of Oregon. Next to a long-gone mill camp, on a river most people have never heard of and a gravel road most people will never drive. This is an interview I recorded with Scott Hebert of the Stoic Mettle podcast last fall. It was intended for the Anarcho-Yakitalism Podcast but I really liked the topic and conversation so I decided to release it here.  I think stoicism is a great tool for all people. I say it might not work for you sometimes, but I don't mean that. If you're willing to put in the effort, you can make it work for you.
