24/09/2023 Duración: 09minIn April of 2014, Matthew de Grood attended an end-of-school-term party in a home in Calgary's North-West. de Grood would, in the worst mass killing in Calgary's history, stab to death Kaitlin Perras, 23, Zackariah Rathwell, 21, Jordan Segura, 22, Josh Hunter, 23, and Lawrence Hong, 27. In 2016 de Grood was found NCR (Not Criminally Responsible) and found to be living with undiagnosed schizophrenia. He has since been living at the Edmonton Alberta Hospital and receiving psychiatric treatment, while appearing annually before the Alberta review board to have his case and detention assessed. In September of last year the board determined de Grood posed a "significant risk" to the public and would not be granted an absolute discharge. de Grood is now seeking to have the Supreme Court of Canada hear and consider his case and grant more freedoms.
