What's up nerds!? Bet you're freaked out by this semi-regular schedule aren't you? Well, this week the nerd news is pretty short! The guys discuss the early cancellation of Swamp Thing (lol DC) because apparently they're trying to be the next Firefly... too soon? Then, a quick breakdown & review of the newest season of Black Mirror. Spoilers: it's good.  No one who has ever graced the presence of this podcast has been shy about their hatred for Fox's X-Men franchise, and no movie has been anticiapted with such hatred quite like Dark Phoenix has... but... Maybe we were wrong? Go in knowing this - there are three versions of Dark Phoenix: the movie which is set within the continuity-fucked Fox X-verse, the movie which is a standalone send off to the franchise, and the movie which is just one long Cyclops showreel.  One is good, the other is terrible... But which one is hands down amazing?  You'll have to tune in to find out!

This week the guys discuss a plethora of nerd news, including the interesting casting of Robert Pattinson as the next Batman for Matt Reeves' film. The main topic is a juicy review of Pokemon's Detective Pikachu! 

11 years, 22 films, and an infinite amount of love.  Avengers Endgame is one of the most monumental achievements in cinema history; a culmination of storytelling the world has never seen before, and it's finally upon us.  The guys don't mess around this episode. The Oscars are this weekend and the guys broke down every single category... and then the audio file disappeared.  So the guys re-recorded and broke down the top categories really quickly so you at least have something to listen to! Pop! Pop! is back! We definitely didn't miss two weeks! And even if we did, it wasn't two months, so you're welcome! Rams v Patriots in the Super Bowl is big news! For some reason the Fast & the Furious movies are making spinoffs about the newest characteres in the franchise. James Gunn is probably ruining his career further by joining the DC universe while Matt Reeves is going to make a Batman movie that makes Christopher Nolan look like M. Night Shyamalan. SPEAKING OF M. NIGHT SHYAMALAN - Glass came out to mixed reviews and boy do we have mixed feelings about it!  All of this AND MORE on this episode of Pop! Pop!

NFL playoffs! Go Rams! Go Eagles! (we're biased)  As always, there's nerd news aplenty! Real life Bond villain Mads Mikkelsen stars in Netflix's Polar, another film about a hitman.. woo... Another podcast, another Captain Marvel segment! There's a new trailer, so there are new opinions! The Venom sequel gets greenlit, and we're stuck at a yellow light about it! All this news and more!  The main course this time around revolves around two polar opposites - a Netflix pop culture phenomenon and a box office flop that's a cult success... Of course we're talking about Bird Box & Bad Times at the El Royale! Unfortunately we saw Bird Box, but surprisingly we didn't hate it as much as we thought we would! Sandra Bullock -1, Pop! Pop! - 0. On the flip side of this coin, Bad Times premiered in October of last year and we finally just saw it! We love writer/director Drew Goddard, and. We. Love. This. Movie. So. Damn. Much! The last podcast before the new year! Huzzah! 2018 was one short year for the Pop! Pop! crew, but the LA Nerd and Taylor are here for your end of the year listening pleasure. The guys dive into an end of the year trailer breakdown with some last minute movies sneaking their trailers in under the wire. Hellboy, MIB: International, and Us, all treat us to something fun, but which trailers do the boys like, and which trailers could the guys have lived without? 2018 was an enormous year for Spider-Man and his fans, and the biggest win for 'ole Webhead & Co. was the release of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse! Do we have to forget this film like Peter Parker's emo dance moves, or will we remember this as one of the most important Spider-Man films in history? Finally, Netflix has tried something daring with their new Black Mirror film, Bandersnatch. It's been a looong week, folks! But, the guys are back with another episode!  On the docket for this week's episode:  Spider-Man PS4 & the highly anticipated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse! A fun discussion on why the fuck Once Upon a Deadpool exists. Bumblebee is fast approaching and the guys are actually excited to see John Cena battle the Autobots! Netflix scorned the whole entire world by canceling Daredevil, and the guys explore options for the series to continue elsewhere. David Harbour looks SWOL AF as the new Hellboy... That is all.  Disney + is going to exist whether we like it or not, so why not talk about it? While the new Godzilla movie is coming out soon, what really matters is Godzilla vs. Kong... right!? The juicy attraction here is that sweet, sweet, Captain Marvel trailer, so we break it down!          .... And I guess we talk about some DC news too... Gross.

Nothing witty this time...  Stan Lee passed away and the guys pay tribute to him with some help from Taylor's brother, Reed. RIP Stan Lee, we'll always remember you, 'nuff said.  Excelsior! 

The guys are back! But they've also been here the whole time, remember last week's episode about Comic-Con 2016? That was great. This time around we're talking about a monopoly -- I mean Disney!  They've just purchased Twentieth Century Fox and that means The X-Men & The Fantastic Four are back home at Marvel and that the original Star Wars Trilogy distribution rights are under the same roof as the rest of the universe.  Does this mean Cyclops and Wolverine are going to be in the MCU!? Does this mean that we're finally going to get an unaltered release of the OT!? Who knows!? We don't! But we talk about it a lot! Also we dish on the new Venom trailer, whether or not James Gunn deserves his job back, if MoviePass is going to survive... and much more! The LA Nerd & some of the Pop! Pop! crew went to San Diego Comic-Con and after all the marathon-length walks and Hall H-ing, they finally found some time on Sunday to podcast!  We know, we know, Joel said he'd be doing an episode every day of the con... But it turns out the mixing equipment was too cumbersome to bring along and we only had access to a recording device on Sunday.  We figured a big-ass recap would make up for it!

Ohhhhhhhhh snap! Pop! Pop! the Pop Culture Podcast! is back with a 24th episode!  This week the guys invite Izzy Beers, the guy who replaced Taylor in the apartment, to talk shop on the podcast. J.K. Simmons got SWOL AF at the gym to play Jim Gordon in Justice League; the ever beautiful and perfect Brie Larson is in "serious talks" to play Captain Marvel, presumably in Infinity Wars; speaking of Marvel, the studio is returning to Comic-Con's Hall H this year, most likely with Doctor Strange and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2; bust out your gambling shoes because the Ocean's franchise is rebooting with an all female cast and it's pretty damn good!  And finally, the guys review the hell out of one of the only good third superhero film, X-Men: Apocalypse.

The LA Nerd & Taylor have some Nerd News for you as usual: There's ANOTHER leaked title for Star Wars Episode VIII but this time it seems a little bit more legit; someone is challenging Stephen Lang for the role of Cable in Deadpool 2 and that someone is Hellboy himself - Ron Perlman; the negotiations have gone back and forth but Michale Keaton is finally playing the villain in Spider-Man: Homecoming for sure; J. Law is being cheeky about returning to the X-Men Universe and says she'll only come back if Fassbender and Mcavoy do, too... We're okay with this deal. And finally for the main topic, we discuss 11 actors that could replace Daniel Craig as the next 007 aka - Bond, James Bond.

Michael Fassbender's Assassins Creed has a first trailer and we all went into it excited, and came out... very not excited; we can never have enough Star Wars, so Battlefront is coming out with new material next year to quench our thirst; only David knows what Disney Infinity is, but it's been discontinued and he tells us why; Chance The Rapper (praise be his name) has a third mixtape coming out and the guys are extremely pumped for it; Star Wars Episode VIII has some rumored titles that we don't believe are real and Bryan Singer talks about the (never ending) future of the X-Men franchise! Then, for the main event, the guys talk waayyyy too long about the newest Marvel film which The LA Nerd has dubbed Spider-Man: Civil War Feat. Captain America because Spider-Man is way more important than Cap is.

Pop! Pop! the Pop Culture Podcast! is BACK! After an unscheduled hiatus (the guys have lives, okay?) The LA Nerd and Taylor are sitting down with their friend Patrick Geraghty again to bring you the nerdiest news of the week!  Jim from The Office is going to be a secret agent; Joel uses Snapchat to learn from a fan that Alicia Vikander is going to be the new, more-appropriately-sized-chested Lara Croft; Jon Bernthal stole everyone's hearts as the Punisher so he's getting his own series at Netflix; RDJ just can't quit Iron Man and the guys aren't too beat up about it; Joel & Taylor absolutely lose their shit over the newest Spider-Man footage from Captain America: Civil War while Patrick couldn't care less and finally, 20th Century Fox is taking a page out of the Marvel playbook by skipping Comic-Con's Hall H this year... Joel predicts the Comic-Con bubble is soon going to pop!

Pop! the Pop Culture Podcast! the guys discuss Charlize Theron hopping in her car and driving into a new franchise; Deadpool receiving the go-ahead from Fox for a sequel and we'll be getting fan-favorite Cable along with it; and Ryan Reynolds is a dream-maker it seems because his next priority is making an X-Force movie happen, god bless your soul Ryan.  There's also some rumblings coming from the Star Wars camp as a couple new helmets from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story leaked online.  On this week's Stoopid Newz the guys thrash on the idea of a Sonic the Hedgehog movie and they dust off their barf bags as Lionsgate raises the Saw franchise from the grave for an 8th installment. Last but not least the guys breakdown all of the super awesome Superbowl trailers (that all seem to have subtitles) that they saw over the weekend, including: Captain America: Civil War, X-Men: Apocalypse, Jason Bourne, TMNT: Out of the Shadows and more!

Alan Rickman has passed away at 69; much squee is to be had over the first official Suicide Squad trailer and Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn and last but not least the guys tackle the subject of racism with this year's ridiculous Oscars drama of #OscarsSoWhite... but are they!?
