As followers of Jesus, we know this world is not our true home. But the reality is, we don’t always lead lives that reflect the fact that we were made for more. God has called each of us to holiness. Instead of focusing on the here and now, we were created to live with the joy of a future with Him in mind. 

Any great runner will tell you that to run a race well, you must train, remove any unnecessary weight that might slow you down, and keep your eyes fixed on the finish line. 

Our good friend John Bevere was with us as we celebrated 35 years of Victory! He brought a timely word to carry with us throughout each day as we interact with others on our journey with Jesus. The bait of Satan is the trap of offense, a breeding ground for deception that leads us out of God’s will. 

John was given a beautiful vision of the new heaven and earth. One day, Jesus will return as King, and He will vindicate His people who are found faithful. When He comes, all things will be made new, we will live and work in harmony with God forever, and the fulfillment of every last one of His promises will come to pass! 

For every one of us, a time will come when we breathe our last breath. And if you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, then you know what is to come: Heaven. But what about our present moments? How do we live today in light of the gift and hope of eternity with God? When Jesus was born, it was a fulfillment of the prophecy that a Savior, the King, would come to earth. He went to the cross and died for the sins of the world, and He rose again on the third day before He ascended into heaven. Like the church of Philadelphia, we live in a world that is constantly being shaken. Because sin began in the Garden of Eden, all creation now groans in anticipation of Jesus’ return. Until then, even as we go through the trials of life, we are called to love our neighbors as ourselves and to shine brightly for Christ. Though we may feel weak and unsure of how much we can endure, Jesus will make us strong until the end—then we’ll be safe in His presence forever!
