December 5, 2007, 39 year old Patrick Smith was killed in a traffic accident in Mansfield, CT. This was not just a routine accident, the driver of a truck ran a stop light and plowed into Patrick's vehicle which was legally stopped at the light and then left the scene. Although some deadly traffic accidents are just that, an accident, with a driver who may have been at the wrong place at the wrong time, this accident is unusual as the driver was found to be in diabetic shock, his glucose level such that he didn't know what he was doing.  Michael Smith joins Shattered Lives Radio to help bring more awareness to, not only the public, but those who suffer with diabetes and the consequences of not taking control of the management of the disease. In 1997 Bill Jenkins’ son, William Benjamin Jenkins, was murdered at the fast food restaurant where he held his first real job. A shooter with an extensive criminal background, and a gun, took the life of the 16 year old on his second day of work. Jenkins feels that had the 23 year old shooter not had access to the .380 semi-automatic handgun, he would not have had the wherewithal to commit the robbery and subsequent murder of his son. Jamie's mother Anne Isaacs said she knew her daughter was being bullied, but at a loss as to how to effectively handle the situation. Early in the morning hours of October, 29,1995, several calls came in to the Hartford Police reporting a female being dragged by a car. Investigators eventually found the mangled body of Leah Ulbrich by following a trail of blood and flesh, she had been dragged for over 4 miles, her life ending gruesomely. Leah Ulbrich's son, Ryan, was 12 at the time of her death, and is a recent graduate of Eastern Ct State University with a degree in Criminology & Sociology. He would like answers concerning the death of his mother along with other family members. My Sister’s House is a nonprofit organization that provides services, programs and resources to empower victims of domestic violence and their children to be free from abuse. Located in North Charleston, South Carolina, the organization operates an emergency temporary shelter at an undisclosed location for up to 36 women and children who flee abusive situations in Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester counties in South Carolina. It also maintains a 24-hour crisis hotline and helps victimized women and children with needed food, clothing, transportation, medication among many other community services.

She so lovingly described her son, her family, and the close knit community that has helped her through.  The MAG Coalition has been very active in fundraising and awareness in the Imperial Valley and beyond. Creating an atmosphere of harmony for troubled youth and their families, they seek to create a safety net for those kids who may fall through the cracks and become involved in gangs.
