WGBH Early Edition - Wednesday, July 22nd, 2020
22/07/2020 Duración: 13minGood Wednesday morning from WGBH Radio’s Morning Edition team. Joe Mathieu and the crew are “up and at ‘em” for Early Edition and ready to help you start your day off right. Another failure of a morning as we tried to locate the comet before it disappears from view for thousands of years… and it sure looks like tonight’s incoming clouds will make tomorrow morning a bust as well. The Trump administration tried out a new tone at yesterday’s press conference... we’ll see how long this change lasts. And retail employees at some locations are getting relief from trying to enforce mandatory mask use in unruly customers. Stay safe out there and have a great Wednesday, and thanks for tuning in to WGBH.

WGBH Early Edition - Tuesday, July 21st, 2020
21/07/2020 Duración: 13minGood Tuesday Morning from Joe Mathieu and our WGBH Morning Edition team. We’re up early again to greet you on the radio and on facebook live, from locations throughout New England. We’ve been trying to get a glimpse of this fabled comet each morning before we go live, but light pollution is not helping. Covid-19 numbers for Massachusetts are still holding up well, but that’s not the case in much of the rest of the country. The President believes the solution might be to hold more press conferences, because those of course worked out so well for his polling numbers the last time he tried that. This is no time to relax, stay diligent and stay safe out there, and thanks once again for waking up with WGBH Radio.

WGBH Early Edition - Monday, July 20th, 2020
20/07/2020 Duración: 13minGood Monday morning from WGBH Radio, hope you’re staying cool out there. Joe Mathieu and our Morning Edition team are up and getting ready for a good old fashioned Boston “Steamah” today as temperatures are expected to approach or touch 100 degrees… we hope you can find some air conditioning to hide out and cool down in. We’ll catch you up on the latest, including a Fox News interview of Donald Trump that didn’t exactly take the same tone that the President is used to on that particular outlet. Do what you can to stay cool out there and thanks for waking up with us on WGBH Radio.

WGBH Early Edition - Thursday, July 16th, 2020
16/07/2020 Duración: 14minGood Thursday morning from WGBH Radio. Joe Mathieu and our Morning Edition crew are warming up the broadcast equipment and getting the news ready for today, but first Early Edition helps Boston wake up with “the best 10”. A ton of Covid-19 related news this morning, including a mandatory mask mandate in Alabama, and the opposite of that down in Georgia. A major twitter hack went down yesterday afternoon that involved a lot of bigger ‘blue check mark’ accounts. And there won’t be any swan boat rides this season down at the public garden. And happy birthday to our own Karen Marshall, who kept it quiet right until the end. Thanks as always for waking up with WGBH’s Morning Edition.

WGBH Early Edition - Wednesday, July 15th, 2020
15/07/2020 Duración: 13minGood Wednesday morning from WGBH Radio and our entire Morning Edition team. We’re “building the plane in flight” once again this morning, as introducing new equipment to a broadcast chain can often come with some unique challenges. Joe Mathieu reminds us all that today is indeed Tax Day, as the three month extension granted to us by the Federal Government and the State of Massachusetts comes to an end today at 11:59PM. And President Trump broke the rules again yesterday and used a Rose Garden press conference as a 2020 campaign event. Stay diligent and stay safe out there, and thanks again for waking up with WGBH.

WGBH Early Edition - Tuesday, July 14th, 2020
14/07/2020 Duración: 13minGood Tuesday morning from Joe Mathieu and the WGBH Morning Edition team. Summer sleep schedules are always an adventure, especially for the crew here on Morning Edition… when your head hits the pillow each “night”, you’re never quite sure what you’re going to get. We have the latest details on the pandemic, and head down to the Cape where Covid-19 is taking its toll on a niche industry… a nudist colony. As far as we can tell, no member of Early Edition has ever been a nude beach participant (and thank goodness for that). Have a great Tuesday out there, and thanks for waking up with us here at WGBH Radio.

WGBH Early Edition - Friday, July 10th, 2020
10/07/2020 Duración: 10minGood Friday morning from WGBH Radio’s Morning Edition team. Joe Mathieu has a long weekend on tap, so Henry Santoro is stopping by this Friday morning to anchor the news and handle Early Edition duties. Henry catches up with the latest from our writers and regales us with tales of the good old days in rock radio. We’re due for another humid day before the remnants of a tropical storm arrive and dump rain on us for most of the weekend. Let’s do our part and stay safe out there so we don’t see a spike return to New England anytime soon. Have a great weekend, and thanks for waking up with WGBH Radio.

WGBH Early Edition - Thursday, July 9th, 2020
09/07/2020 Duración: 13minWelcome to Thursday, thanks for waking up with Joe Mathieu and WGBH Radio. Our morning edition team is hard at work cranking out the news copy for the day and getting you all ready to face what is out there. Joe regales us with a story about a missing mask, and an ensuing scramble to get to work on time; then our Facebook Live fans have a few suggestions on how to remedy that situation next time. We’ll catch you up on the latest news, info and entertainment to get you ready to face your day. Thanks as always for being a WGBH Radio listener.

WGBH Early Edition - Wednesday, July 8th, 2020
08/07/2020 Duración: 12minWe made it to the midway point of the work week… welcome to Wednesday from Joe Mathieu and the WGBH Morning Edition team. We’re still missing our “show Mom” Karen, and Joe can’t remember if she’s been gone for two weeks, or two months. Are people finally running out of fireworks? We all collectively hope so. Turns out our young writing team of Brendan and Shelby are much more responsible than other representatives of their age group. And the weather is about to turn downright soupy around these parts. Have a great Wednesday everyone, and thanks for waking up with WGBH Radio.

WGBH Early Edition - Tuesday, July 7th, 2020
07/07/2020 Duración: 13minGood Tuesday morning from the WGBH Newsroom. Joe Mathieu and the crew are waking up with you and breaking down the latest news of the day. The rush to re-open in many other states is not going as planned, as the city of Miami is now shutting restaurants, gyms and other services back down. We can only wonder if the numbers will start to creep back up in the Bay State as residents of other states head here to vacation. Plus someone has started an Early Edition fan page on Facebook, and we welcome the attention here on the “best 10”. Stay safe and enjoy your Tuesday, and thanks for waking up with WGBH’s Early Edition.

WGBH Early Edition - Monday, July 6th, 2020
06/07/2020 Duración: 13minGood Monday morning from WGBH Radio, Joe Mathieu, and our entire Morning Edition team. We all had great weekends despite being kept up to all hours this weekend, courtesy of the record amount of fireworks we all witnessed. None of course were of the municipal variety, as organized displays were cancelled around the area, but that didn’t stop residents from taking things into their own hands. Plus “the kids” take over the show briefly as Joe battles connection issues, and even the vacationing Marshalls make an appearance. Thanks for waking up with WGBH Radio, have a great week!

WGBH Early Edition - Friday, July 3rd, 2020
03/07/2020 Duración: 13minGood Friday morning and Happy Independence Day weekend from Joe Mathieu and the WGBH Morning Edition crew. Joe is back to broadcasting from home for the holiday weekend and raring to go for today’s Early Edition. Restrictions are easing across the region, and on the surface that should make us all happy, but anecdotal evidence from our Early Edition team shows that people may already be pushing the envelope, as crowds are growing and mask use appears to be waning. Please stay vigilant out there, whats going on in much of the rest of the country tells us this is no time to relax. We’ll catch you up on weekend plans and the latest news. Thanks as always for waking up with WGBH.

WGBH Early Edition - Thursday, July 2nd, 2020
02/07/2020 Duración: 12minGood Thursday morning from Joe Mathieu and the WGBH Morning Edition team. Fog is the word this morning as it envelops the area, your visibility may vary. A grim milestone for Covid-19 infections in the US, as new daily positive tests in the country broke the 50,000 mark for the first time, a new single day record. Meanwhile President Trump was content to once again repeat his claim that “one day it will disappear”, while comparing himself to the lone ranger. Stay vigilant out there and we’ll get through this together. Thanks as always for waking up with WGBH Radio.

WGBH Early Edition - Wednesday, July 1st, 2020
01/07/2020 Duración: 13minGood Wednesday morning from Joe Mathieu and the WGBH Morning Edition team. The covid-19 numbers for Massachusetts showed some very promising signs yesterday, but they need to be kept in context with the surge going on in many other parts of the country: this is no time to relax our practices… keep it up Massachusetts! Meanwhile in Miami, the mayor has finally decided that banning lap dances at strip clubs is a good idea. The Patriots’ Julian Edelman seems to have a new crush, and that’s made his old flame Tom Brady a little jealous. And if you’re interested in what “rabbit, rabbit” means, you can consult google to learn more about this gesture of good luck to begin a new month. Thanks for waking up with WGBH Radio!

WGBH Early Edition - Tuesday, June 30th, 2020
30/06/2020 Duración: 13minGood Tuesday morning from WGBH Radio, Joe Mathieu and our Early Edition team. We zoom into Tuesday with our team spread out all over New England, safely working from the Cape to New Hampshire. The City of Boston is poised to take on the epidemic of fireworks in the area by forming a task force to look into it. Rhode Island is set to enter phase 3 of its re-opening today. And we’re joined by a special guest for today’s Early Edition… WGBH radio’s own Michelle Sweet is moving on to the next step in her life, and as a big fan of Early Edition we welcomed her in to our Zoom to say thanks. Good luck Michelle! And happy Tuesday to the rest of you, from WGBH News and WGBH Radio.

WGBH Early Edition - Monday, June 29th, 2020
29/06/2020 Duración: 13minGood Monday morning from the WGBH Morning Edition team. Joe Mathieu is back in the house after a week off and is raring to go to bring you the latest. We recap the news from the weekend including covid-19 numbers that continue to rise in Florida and Texas among other places. Meanwhile the President has stepped in it again after retweeting a video of some of his supporters saying some highly questionable things in a Florida retirement community. And the Trump administration is in full damage control mode after the NY Times story about Russian bounties on American soldiers in Afghanistan. Should be another week of interesting news, thanks for waking up with us on WGBH Radio.

WGBH Early Edition - Friday, June 26th, 2020
26/06/2020 Duración: 11minGood Friday morning, thanks for waking up with WGBH Radio. Henry Santoro is wrapping up his week of filling in for Joe Mathieu and gets your weekend started early. When you wake up at 2:45 for work you never really get used to it, but one golden rule is to NEVER hit the snooze button. More iconic Boston establishments are folding because of the fallout from Covid-19, Henry updates us on where. And good weather is on tap for the weekend, make sure you enjoy it safely. Have a great one, and thank you for being a WGBH listener.

WGBH Early Edition - Thursday, June 25th, 2020
25/06/2020 Duración: 12minGood Thursday morning from the WGBH Morning Edition team. Henry Santoro is winding down his fill-in week for the vacationing Joe Mathieu, and has all the information you need to start your day. The City of Boston helped out North End restaurants by opening up the streets for outdoor dining, but this morning there is more news about establishments stepping over the line and taking advantage of the city’s leniency. And there may finally be some insight on where all these fireworks are coming from. Have a great Thursday, and thanks for waking up with us on WGBH Radio.
