Good Friday morning, thank you for waking up with WGBH and our Morning Edition cast of characters. Henry Santoro is in for Joe Mathieu one more time today, as Joe will return on Monday. Joe Biden accepted the nomination of the Democratic party last night and wrapped up the final night of DNC. We’ll recap some of the highlights and also get you prepared to embrace your weekend. Good Thursday morning, thanks for waking up with WGBH Radio. Henry Santoro is back here filling in for Joe Mathieu and heading up our Morning Edition team for the rest of the week. On the heels of Rhode Island’s big convention moment, Henry had a hankering for some calamari, and just had to prepare some at home. Netflix will be adding a shuffle button for the indecisive among us, and it may also serve as argument solver for couples who can’t agree on what to watch. Good Wednesday morning from the WGBH Morning Edition team. Joe Mathieu continues his vacation, blessed with some of the best weather we’ve seen this summer. Henry Santoro is in again, and the team has some of the highlights of night two of the Democratic National Convention, including a moment that was uniquely representative of Rhode Island. This of course means a lot of people on the way to their early shifts tune in, including many other radio, television and media personalities. School re-openings are on all of our minds and parents everywhere agree that the lack clear answers is tough to deal with on the home front. We check in on the President’s latest ramblings concerning schools and athletics, and even manage to decipher some of the people he mentioned by first name only. Welcome to Wednesday, we made it to the middle of the week and its all downhill from here. Joe Mathieu and the WGBH Morning Edition crew are in place and raring to go. Brendan is making an appearance today despite being off for the two longest weekends a man has ever experienced. We delve into a couple of Trump-friendly interviews with the President that left us confused on a couple of key issues. Welcome to Monday and the start of your work week from Joe Mathieu and the WGBH Morning Edition team. We hope your weekend was a good one and that the week ahead looks promising. Our shark report has been slow this season, but we had a few more incidents in the area that made us ramp it up again on a Monday morning. Early Edition is for families, so we thank our listener Paul out there for introducing us to his daughter this morning on the way to see the sun rise. It’s Little Friday and it looks like people are buying personalized jewelry and masks because Etsy is making a lot of money and showing up on top. Needlepoint, anyone? Boston Public School Committee meets and the discussion of what the school year will look like leaves a lot up in the air. The takeaway- there is no one size fits all. Over 150,000 people wake up without power or air conditioning after Tropical Storm Isiasis moves quickly through Massachusetts. Governor Baker has required travelers to be tested for the coronavirus when returning from out of state. After returning from the midwest Karen and her family followed orders…the results are surprising.

Made it all the way to Tuesday with Tropical Storm Isaias headed up the coast to Massachusetts and more restaurants close for good. Will Massachusetts reverse Phase Three as case numbers see an increase? ALl that and the days news on WGBHs Early Edition.

The number of coronavirus cases across the country continue to rise and as of August 1st all residents re-entering the state are required to quarantine or get tested. Karen takes her family to get a test and after waiting in line for hours has a dramatic ending.

It feels like this week has been particularly long, but then again every week under Covid-19 feels like it drags. The President once again stepped in it when he floated the idea of delaying the election, something that didn’t sit well even with some of his supporters. Day three of the heat wave has arrived, and its rare, but the mercury is above 80 degrees in Boston before 5AM… should be another scorcher out there. The Red Sox are four games in to their Covid-shortened season, and their lack of pitching indicates this could be a long short season. But for Major League Baseball the problems are bigger, as over a dozen members of one team very recently tested positive. Meanwhile there have been mysterious seeds showing up in the mail according to the FBI, and we poll our group on who among us would actually plant them. Good Monday morning from WGBH Radio. Joe Mathieu and the Morning Edition crew have punched in and are ready to bring you the news of the morning. Hot is the word of the day as a heat wave, although not official yet, is well under way. A less than great opening weekend for your Boston Red Sox, who started out fine on Friday, but got trounced the rest of the way by one of the worst teams in baseball. Meanwhile one of our Morning Edition team members was out and safely socially-distancing to watch the Sox’ opener and apparently ended up in the paper of record because of it. Good Friday morning from Joe Mathieu and the WGBH Radio Morning Edition team. The threshold of the weekend has arrived and that still feels great even though most of us don’t have the chance to leave our homes. Joe listened in to an NPR interview with Dr. Fauci, in which he says he personally wouldn’t get on an airplane or eat inside a restaurant during this pandemic, and that has many of us re-thinking whether we’d take those risks ourselves. Baseball is back as well, even if it is without fans. Going to be great weather around these parts this weekend, stay safe and enjoy it, and thank you for tuning in to WGBH.
