19/10/2020 Duración: 14minGood Monday morning from Joe Mathieu and the GBH Morning Edition team. Welcome back to the work week, you’re greeted by some frosty weather that reminds us that autumn has arrived. Still a few warm days on tap this week, so your chance to enjoy the outdoors hasn’t expired just yet. GBH Early Edition - Friday October 16th, 2020
16/10/2020 Duración: 15minGood Friday morning from Joe Mathieu and the GBH Morning Edition team. Last night we watched dueling town halls featuring President Trump on NBC and his opponent Joe Biden on ABC. As expected the tone and substance of each event were radically different. So with one debate left the question now is are the polls correct, or are we in for a close and possibly disputed election? Meanwhile one member of Morning Edition is feeling daring this morning and trying out a new ghost pepper donut from a noted local vendor… we find out how she deals with the heat, or lack thereof. Have a great weekend and thank you as always for waking up with GBH.

GBH Early Edition - Thursday October 15th, 2020
15/10/2020 Duración: 13minGood morning and welcome to Thursday from Joe Mathieu and our GBH News Morning Edition team. A couple of technical snags with our audio won’t stop Early Edition from continuing on… when problems arise we will persevere. We have the latest news from the campaign trail and the financial markets… which, as Joe tells us, are not looking good this morning on the latest news of a stimulus plan, or lack thereof. Thanks as always for waking up with GBH News and starting your day with Early Edition.

GBH Early Edition - Wednesday October 14th, 2020
14/10/2020 Duración: 14minGood Wednesday morning and welcome to the mid-week mark from Joe Mathieu and the GBH Morning Edition team. As most of us continue to work from home, today we encountered our first instance of a frozen crew member… on Zoom and social media. At least we could still hear Karen, so our radio broadcast and podcast survived the glitch. We’ll catch you up on the latest election and campaign news, plus the local stories including a break-in at Governor Baker’s home. Hey, where else can you get a lesson on the proper way to pronounce “Swampscott” at 5 o’clock in the morning? Thanks for waking up with Early Edition and GBH Radio.

GBH Early Edition - Tuesday October 13th, 2020
13/10/2020 Duración: 14minGood morning and welcome to Tuesday, thanks for waking up with Joe Mathieu and the GBH Morning Edition crew. Our team is back to full strength after the holiday weekend, and we’re getting you ready to face a rainy Tuesday around these parts. We have the latest on both Presidential campaigns, including a Trump rally in Florida that featured dancing, hopes for hugs and kissing, and of course zero social distancing. Plus Framingham, MA is apparently among the best places in the country to live… we’ll break down why exactly. Stay dry out there today and stay safe, and thanks for tuning in to GBH Radio.

GBH Early Edition - Monday October 12th, 2020
12/10/2020 Duración: 14minGood Monday morning from Joe Mathieu and the GBH Morning Edition team. It is indeed a holiday in this country: still Columbus Day for some, but also Indigenous People’s day to many, a debate that is likely to continue for some time. Joe is back in the anchor chair after a long weekend, but Karen is the lucky team member who got the holiday off today. We catch you up on the latest news from the weekend including a mixed bag for Boston sports fans, and the postponement of the Patriots game due to Covid concerns. Speaking of Covid concerns, the President made another false claim and once again had to be “corrected” by twitter. Thanks for waking up with us for the holiday, and thanks for choosing GBH News.

GBH Early Edition - Friday October 9th, 2020
09/10/2020 Duración: 11minGood Friday Morning and welcome to GBH’s Early Edition. Joe and Karen are off today after a long week which included a special broadcast following the Massachusetts Senatorial Debate on Monday night, so the great Henry Santoro has agreed to forego sleep and join us this morning. The Patriots game has once again been delayed to Monday night after another prominent player tested positive for Covid-19. Henry is amazed at the impact and earning potential of “Tik-Tokkers” and other influencers, some as young as four years old. And we wrap it up with a little tribute to John Lennon on what would’ve been his 80th birthday. Thanks for waking up with GBH, have a great weekend.

GBH Early Edition - Thursday October 8th, 2020
08/10/2020 Duración: 15minGood Thursday morning from the GBH Morning Edition team. Joe Mathieu has assembled our Early Edition crew and we’re all lucky that our power stayed on and our alarms went off for us as scheduled. A massive wind, thunder and rain storm cut across the state yesterday, downing trees and limbs and leaving tens of thousands without power. Meanwhile the one and only vice-presidential debate went down last night, we react to what we saw, including a now-famous fly who made himself at home. And we have our own local wrinkle to add to the #DreamChallenge story. Thanks as always for waking up with Early Edition and GBH Radio.

GBH Early Edition - Wednesday October 7th, 2020
07/10/2020 Duración: 14minGood morning and welcome to Wednesday from Joe Mathieu and the GBH News Morning Edition team. Adventures in a medicated Presidency continue as we try and understand why President Trump would publicly call off Covid economic relief talks while markets were still open, and then back-track on social media a few hours later. The President also still wants to push ahead with the debate schedule despite his potentially contagious condition. Meanwhile the latest viral video sensation received quite the gift from the CEO of Ocean Spray. And a tough day for music fans as Eddie Van Halen passes away. Grab your cranberry juice and stay positive out there, and thanks for tuning in to GBH Radio.

GBH Early Edition - Tuesday October 6th, 2020
06/10/2020 Duración: 14minGood morning and welcome to Tuesday from Joe Mathieu and the GBH Morning Edition team. We were up late last night to react to the Massachusetts Senatorial debate live on GBH, and little to no sleep won’t stop us from showing up the next morning to bring you the news. We recap the debate and also bring you the latest on President Trump’s treatment for Covid-19 and his dramatically staged return to the White House last night. Plus the Patriots hung on for a bit but ultimately lost last night to the World Champion Chiefs, while their quarterback Cam Newton remained back in New England under quarantine for Covid-19. Enjoy the day, and thanks for waking up with GBH Radio.

Have a great Monday, and thank you for waking up with GBH Radio.

GBH Early Edition - Thursday October 1st, 2020
01/10/2020 Duración: 15minGood Thursday morning from Joe Mathieu and the GBH News Morning Edition team. We call it “Little Friday” around these parts, an optimistic nod to the upcoming weekend. An almost full moon this morning for a brand new month. Like many Americans, we’re all still feeling a hangover from Tuesday night’s debate. Joe Biden hit the campaign trail in Pennsylvania and Ohio and called the President’s behavior during the debate “a national embarrassment”. Meanwhile while President Trump headed to Minnesota, claiming he got rave reviews for his debate performance. Have a great Thursday and thank you for waking up with Early Edition and GBH Radio.

GBH Early Edition - Wednesday September 30th, 2020
30/09/2020 Duración: 14minGood morning and welcome to Wednesday from Joe Mathieu and the GBH Morning Edition crew. We’re questioning whether anyone in our audience actually got sleep last night after witnessing the first Presidential debate of the 2020 election. Train wreck and dumpster fire are some of the phrases used by analysts to describe the bickering we watched. Most of our team went to bed and woke up early to watch it on tape, and that seemed to be the right move for consuming what Joe described as a televised shot of espresso. We’ll give you some of the highlights and lowlights and discuss how this can be topped with two debates remaining. Thanks for waking up with Early Edition and GBH Radio.

GBH Early Edition - Tuesday September 29th, 2020
29/09/2020 Duración: 14minGood morning and welcome to Tuesday from GBH Radio. Joe Mathieu and our Morning Edition team are revving up for tonight’s debate, the first of this Presidential race and a big reminder that we go to the polls in just 35 days. Our Facebook audience seems excited for it, but the big question for this crew is do we stay up late, or record it and get up early? Some restrictions are easing for restaurants, but there’s a controversy brewing in the local skating community, where ice skating rinks have been allowed to re-open, while roller skating rinks remain closed. Have a great Tuesday and thanks for waking up with GBH News.

GBH Early Edition - Monday September 28th, 2020
28/09/2020 Duración: 14minGood Monday Morning from Joe Mathieu and the GBH Morning Edition team. As the world still slumbers on an early Monday, we’re all wide awake and getting ready to deliver you the news. Big sports day this morning as the season ends for the Celtics and Red Sox, and the employment of Sox manager Ron Roenicke comes to an end as well. Roenicke offered up some thoughts on his departure that might be useful for anyone looking to softly end a relationship. At least the Patriots had a good Sunday. Meanwhile its a big week in politics with the release of President Trump’s tax returns thanks to the NY Times, and the first of three Presidential debates happening tomorrow night. Thanks for waking up with GBH Radio and have a great week.

GBH Early Edition - Friday September 25th, 2020
25/09/2020 Duración: 13minFriday morning has arrived, thanks for starting the end of your work week with Joe Mathieu and GBH’s Morning Edition team. We’re down a man this morning but we shall persevere and push on with a short staff. It’s all but over for the Red Sox, and the Fenway finale for 2020 ended with a thud. Meanwhile the President continues to erode faith in democracy by refusing to commit to ceding power if he is not reelected. Trump’s comments raised the ire of Governor Baker, who we think sounds a lot like a disappointed Dad. Amazing weather is on tap for your weekend, get out and enjoy it safely, and thanks for waking up with GBH Radio.

Coming in to this building can be a bit strange and creepy at 4AM, and Joe will explain why. Our social media audience is curious about a great many things this morning, and we’re here to answer your questions. And we’ve got the news you need to start your morning. Thanks as always for waking up GBH News and Morning Edition.

GBH Early Edition - Wednesday September 23rd, 2020
23/09/2020 Duración: 14minGood Wednesday morning from GBH News and our entire Morning Edition crew. It is in fact the entire morning edition team today, with the triumphant return of our main man Joe Mathieu. Joe is happy to see the whole team and our social media friends this morning, but came in on the heels of a broken water heater at home and a very cold shower. This begs the question: if your office has a shower, would you actually use it? Meanwhile Covid-19 is still very much a problem in this country, and now an entire dormitory at Merrimack College in North Andover is under quarantine. Certainly a stern reminder that we all need to remain diligent. Thanks for waking up with Morning Edition and GBH Radio.

GBH Early Edition - Tuesday September 22nd, 2020
22/09/2020 Duración: 11minGood Tuesday Morning from GBH Radio and our Morning Edition team. Henry Santoro is back in the building again, filling in for Joe Mathieu. Temperature talk was big this morning, as a few of our crew members saw mid-thirties this morning… a bit too early for this cold for our tastes, and probably yours. Henry tells us its national ice cream cone day, and frost warnings on a day like this just seem wrong. Henry and the team catch you up on the latest news this morning and get you ready for Morning Edition and prepared to face your day. Thanks for waking up with GBH News and GBH Radio.
