Measles vaccine has saved more lives over the past 50 years than any other vaccine.  Measles is highly contagious and there is no treatment for it.  Many people say, “big deal…some skin blotches.”  It is a big deal since measles can trigger life-threatening pneumonia, seizures, and brain infections called encephalitis. Even after an intervening period of abstinence, the brains of these bingeing mice showed inactivation of neurons that facilitate proper executive function and activation of those neurons that typically put the brakes on complex thought process.
