We are continuing the discussion on prayer - what it is and why it's important. If a person is a powerful and effective Christian, then one lives in persistent prayer. This is a safe statement to make because the opposite is also true. A weak and ineffective Christian lives a life of inconsistent prayer. Prayer is the key to relationship between man and God. That's why Jesus prayed as much as He did, to develop and protect His relationship with His Heavenly Father. The choice is given to each person, what kind of life do you want? In this regard, is prayer easy? If it was easy would you pray more? Doing the easy thing doesn't always give the best results. So let's be honest with ourselves and ask the better question, do I want easy or do I want effective and powerful? Effective and powerful come thru a persistence in prayer. In our study on Prayer, we discuss today the importance of "Protecting the Relationship" that is developed as one prays. It's the relationship that one develops with God as we pray that makes one powerful. Things that are valuable deserve to be protected from thieves and anything that would steal or destroy. So it is with the valuable relationship one has with God, the enemy would seek to destroy this relationship as it is what gives us authority over him. For this reason, we need to understand how important it is to protect not only our prayer time but everything that hinders our relationship with God. Prayer - Maybe it's such a common topic that we think there isn't much more to learn about it. I'm excited about the perspective on prayer that we discuss in this message. The disciples witnessed the fact that Jesus understood prayer perfectly and they wanted to learn more about it. They asked Jesus to teach them how to pray. It's interesting that they didn't ask Jesus to teach them how to perform miracles, or heal the sick, or raise people from the dead, they asked him to teach them how to pray... Prayer - one of the most talked about things in the life of a Christian and yet one of the most mysterious. Is prayer complicated? Is prayer hard? We find in it's most simple terms it's simply talking with God. Yet it remains a mysterious necessity in the life of a true believer. Does God answer every prayer? Why doesn't it seem like He does? Pastor Mike wraps up the teaching on the Parables Jesus spoke of the end times and what people should be doing as we see the Day approaching. If Jesus feels these teachings are important for the days we are living in, then surely we need to pay close attention to what He is saying in them. In this parable, Jesus makes it very clear that God is going to separate all the people of the nations as either a sheep or a goat by their character as defined by their actions. If this parable is NOT properly understood, it can lead to a very dangerous "salvation by works" philosophy rather then a "salvation by grace" truth. The point is, works are important but only as a "proof or a result" of one's salvation not as the "cause" of. And then it still goes deeper into the intention and the attitude or motivation of the heart that God sees as the His basis for judgment or reward. Are you a sheep or goat? We continue discussing Jesus answers in regard to the question of the disciples about the signs of the end time. The parable of the talents or the bags of gold, indicate that Jesus has a very serious message to give us about what we should be doing as we see the end times getting closer. God is expecting a return on the investment that He has made in us. This is not a hard thing or a bad thing at all, because the profit that God is looking for is eternal profits and it benefits all that come in contact with it. This is an exciting message today as we continue to talk about the discussion Jesus had with his disciples talking about the end time events. Jesus finishes his answers in Chapter 24 and continues directly in a parable bringing to light in a story form the urgent need to be ready and waiting for His return. This parable is directly relatable to our lives today and as we study and apply this we are acting as one of the 5 wise virgins. The choice is yours today, are you living a wise life of being prepared or a foolish life just for the moment with no thought of what it means to be prepared for the soon return of Christ. Pastor Mike finishes the discussion on Matthew 24 as Jesus was describing to the disciples what the times would be like at the end of time. Jesus describes pre-tribulation, mid-tribulation and post-tribulation events in this chapter. The discussion over the past couple weeks or so is intended to give us a good understanding and develop a sense of urgency in our hearts in regards to living for Jesus like He could return very soon. We asked three questions: 1) When does your eternity begin? 2) Where do you want to spend your eternity? 3) What are you doing about it today? Pastor Mike continues to describe the events as described by Jesus in the Gospel of Matthew regarding the events of the Last Days. This passage describes the worldly culture and the events leading to Christ's return and it is good for us to study and ask God's wisdom as we strive to discern the times we are living in. We see through this chapter that Jesus is describing the times prior to the Rapture of the Church and then midway through the Tribulation and then the events at the end of the Great Tribulation leading up to the final stage of Jesus returning to defeat the anti-christ and Satan and to finally free the true followers of Christ from the forces of evil.

Pastor Mike is beginning a short series of the Events of the End Times as described by Jesus in the book of Matthew. Jesus describes signs of the times without giving specific details and dates, yet we are able to read and discern that His return is soon at hand. We are going to study the words of Jesus and seek an understanding of what He is saying and what we should be doing in a direct response. This is an exciting time to live so listen in and ask the Holy Spirit to bring alive the anticipation of all that is about to happen and pray that His will be done earth as it is Heaven...

This is the final message of the series in the book of 1 Peter. This is by no means an exhaustive study on this amazing book, yet we covered many topics and uncovered many truths of what it means to be a true a follower of Christ. We see that suffering marks the life of a true believer, as much as we don't like to talk about it or dwell on it, it's vital that we understand that a life dedicated to being a follower of Christ will undergo significant suffering. Why? We tried very hard to answer that question over the past number of weeks. But to summarize simply, to live for the glory of Christ Jesus our Savior and our Lord. He gives us the strength thru the power of His GRACE to persevere to end... Listen to for more...

We're winding our study on 1 Peter down to the final messages with a conclusion that is encouraging - we are winning the battle in this life as we learn to trust, resist and stand firm in the faith. Today's message is helping us see the priority of our faith as we learn what it means to submit to God. We're going to see that as we submit to God's will in our lives He then has the authority to give us the results we seek. The devil also falls under the authority of God, so as we submit to God, He then will take a stand for us against the devil and then God's word says, the devil must flee... Do you want victory in the face of the enemy, then submit first then unto God and watch Him work on your behalf!

The second portion of Sunday's message was a sharing of the heart of Pastor Mike as to what his agenda is and what he feels the purpose is of Center Point Assembly.

This is a short discussion on the Special Projects that Center Point is embarking on in the remaining portion of 2017. Center Point welcomes Ricky Jakubowski today. Ricky and his wife Regina are planting a church in Providence Rhode Island and he is the son of Rick and Toni Jakubowski of our congregation. Ricky brings a very encouraging message today leading us to show the way to God our Heavenly Father through seeing the good in us as God sees. Many times, as Ricky points out we skip the introductions and get right to the point of what ever it is we're trying to make. We need to go back and see that God introduced mankind into His creation as good, in fact very good. Even though we've fallen, God still sees the good in us and it's good for us to begin with that as an introduction to the message that Ricky is bringing today...

Peter gives us very good advice in how we deal with sin in our lives today by taking a proactive approach to avoid sin in all forms before we get trapped by it. Sin comes to us most of the time in a subtle form that doesn't appear to be that bad, in fact many times it comes in an attractive package that looks pleasing and not very dangerous at all. We will find that it's the simple things that brings the most destruction in our lives. God's instructions are simple... Why do we make it so hard to obey? To some it may seem strange to post a memorial service on line, but this was a true celebration of praise and worship to Jesus the Savior and Lord of Sandra's life. She lived for Jesus above all things and the many people that spoke give reference to the fruit of Christlikeness in Sandra's life.

Living a life of 'Humility' is the topic of Pastor Mike's message as we continue in the study of 1 Peter. The humility of recognizing that we are a sinful people in need of a savior is the first step of accepting Christ's sacrifice for our sin. Scripture is clear that God opposes the proud and gives grace to the humble. This is the theme throughout scripture understanding that true humbleness is the key to a relationship with Jesus who is the prime example of what it really means to be humble. Not only did Jesus humble himself to come to earth in the form of a man, He humbled himself even unto death on a cross. Is it any wonder that God requires a humble nature in us? The message this week by Pastor Mike is continuing in the study of 1 Peter and it deals with the sin of pride and blessing of humility. God detests pride and he loves humility. In fact His word declares that He opposes the proud and He gives grace and favors the humble, very strong words. It only makes sense then that understand more about pride and humility and make every effort to live a humble life before God. A life that draws His favor and avoids His opposition.
