Next, we move to the gridiron news both Duke's thumping Lafayette (a game that was more than a little bit frustrating early on) and a look ahead at the Northwestern Wildcats, a program that seems to be in utter turmoil. After a break, the podcast guys are back to dive into Team USA and their disappointing performance at the 2023 FIBA World Cup, as well as a look ahead at the big name players who seem to want to play in the 2024 Olympics. The Duke Basketball Roundup is finally ready to give their thoughts on ACC expansion on Episode 533! First, Duke Football is back on the menu as we get ready for this weekend’s game against Lafayette. Jason and Donald begin by going back to Monday night’s stomping of Clemson to give one more thing they loved about that game. Donald is still on a high after that one and how they played, while Jason continues to marvel at the defensive side of the ball. Next up for Duke Gang is the Lafayette Leopards, a FCS opponent that isn’t thought to be very good. Still, fans should not take them lightly. Duke will want to get out and play like the ranked team they now are and show that being ranked is not a fluke. After the break, it’s finally time to discuss ACC expansion, which will see Cal, Stanford, and SMU enter the conference next year. We start with some comments on the tragedy that occurred at UNC on Monday. Our hearts are with the family and friends of the faculty member who was killed. UNC may be our rivals on the court or field, but they are our neighbors, co-workers, friends and family in the game of life, and we stand with them. We get into Duke Football, as they host the Clemson Tigers in a huge game to open up the season on Monday night. The news was coming fast and furious on this Thursday, so the Duke Basketball Roundup team sat down to bring you all we have heard about the two breaking stories. First up, the big NIL event Duke was scheduled to hold in Chicago this weekend, an event that was going to bring in more than $100,000 for Duke's players, has been cancelled by the NCAA. While details are sketchy, the DBR podcast gang has speculation about why the NCAA squashed this fun fan event. After the break, the podcast also dives into the newest addition to Jon Scheyer's staff, Emanuel Dildy. He's deeply experienced and really respected in recruiting circles. The Duke social media team has been hard at work lately and their latest offering is 10-minutes of highly edited video of a scrimmage from a recent practice. It is tough to read too much from these videos where 95% of the missed shots and turnovers are hidden from view, but the DBR Podcast gang gives it a shot. The Duke Basketball Roundup celebrates the newest member of the Duke coaching staff, former player Will Avery. We have been talking about Will working hard the past several years to finish up his Duke undergrad degree and he is now using that degree to teach basketball to the Duke team. The DBR podcast gang breaks down Will's unlikely path back to Durham and what he brings to the table as an assistant coach. And, after the break, we do a deep dive into what happened at the elite EYBL Peach Jam this weekend. Future Dukies Isaiah Evans and Darren Harris both led their teams in impressive fashion, boosting their "recruiting stock" in the process. But everyone was talking about class of 2025 recruits Cameron and Cayden Boozer and Cooper Flagg. ESPN draft analyst and Duke legend Jay Bilas joins the Duke Basketball Roundup for a pair of episodes to look at the draft prospects of a pair of Dukies this year. In part 1, Jay talks to us about Dariq Whitehead and how he can stand out among a whole lot of mid-sized wings who are hoping to go in the middle of the first round of the NBA draft on Thursday.
