    Clare County Council is working to identify viable sites for social housing projects across the county into 2027 and beyond. The local authority is set to exceed it's target for the delivery of social and affordable housing this year, with 232 units set to be brought on stream this year. Optimism has been expressed that the Council will be able to achieve further delivery in 2027, with targets set to be issued by Government later this year. Senior Engineer with the Clare County Council Housing Activation and Delivery team, Adrian Headd, says sites are already being identified to ensure the accelerated delivery of homes.

Objections at an oral hearing held by An Coimisiún Pleanala heard AirNav Ireland's Manager of Surveillance systems, Charlie O’Loughlin, state radar at Shannon Aiport would detect all bar one of the turbines as false aircraft targets. Local Fianna Fáil Deputy, Cathal Crowe, says there's no room for uncertainty when aviation safety is at risk.

    The Government is being accused of an "abandonment by default" of low-lying parts of East Clare. Maghera Fianna Fáil Councillor Pat Hayes has tabled a motion at this week's meeting of Killaloe Municipal District proposing the establishment of a stakeholders' group with the aim of tackling ongoing flooding in the catchment area of the River Graney. In response, Clare County Council's environmental team has contacted the Local Authority Waters Programme which has said it "would not be supportive of drainage of the Graney catchment" as this would contravene key objectives of the EU Water Framework Directive. Councillor Hayes believes affected landowners should be compensated.

Kilrush Independent Councillor Ian Lynch says this cannot continue.

The local authority says groups can be refunded for these costs once they are paid. Councillor O’Callaghan believes Uisce Éireann should be billing the Council directly.

New data published by the Department of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment reveals that LEO Clare created 184 new jobs last year which translates to a net jobs creation figure of 51. The office also provided financial support to 206 small businesses employing 1,348 workers countywide.     The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul is reporting record levels of demand as households face rising energy, food and housing costs AND the withdrawal of temporary cost-of-living supports. The society last year received requests for help exceeding 260,000 for the first time. Food remains the biggest driver of need. Food-related requests were the largest category, with SVP receiving 112,772 requests for food assistance in 2025, up 8,548 on 2024.
