His death was ruled an accidental drowning. But the facts surrounding this tragedy raise questions about that classification. Joey's family has doubts about the adequacy of the police investigation. What really happened to Joey on the night of July 4? Was it an accident; or was it homicide? Deborah Edney - Joey's aunt - will take us through the events as she knows them; and tell us why she believes someone else was involved in her nephew's death.

The woman told hospital staff and later the police that she and Jarred had spent the night in his truck parked in a secluded spot on the farm owned by Jarred’s parents. She said they had fallen asleep and when she awoke in the morning Jarred was unresponsive. Confused, rather than calling 9-1-1 on an available cell phone, she drove past Jarred’s house and on to the home of his 29-year-old cousin, who had been partying with them the previous evening. Unable to get anyone to answer the door, she drove Jarred to the hospital about six miles away. The death was ruled an accident caused by multiple drug intoxication (methadone and ethanol). However, Jarred’s family has developed evidence that the woman’s story not only lacks credibility, much of it is a lie. Wa
