The Western".A few weeks we lost a great and legendary actor who was also one of our top favourite actors. The great Robert Duvall passed away at the age of 95 on the 15th of February 2026. An actor regarded for his amazing versatility, immense range of performances, an actor who always strived for authenticity and realism. He could be big and theatrically booming but he could also be low-key and subtle. A terrific actor. He starred in many films. The Godfather, The Conversation, The Godfather Part 2, Network, Lonesome Dove, Tender Mercies, Jack Reacher, Days of Thunder, Falling Down, To Kill a Mockingbird, M*A*S*H and of course Apocalypse Now. One of the most dedicated and respected actors of his generation. We wanted to pay tribute to Duvall on this episode and hope we did a good job with that. Rob Reiner made some terrific films and left a real mark on cinema with his work. Him and his wife Michelle were political activists. Michelle was an advocate and fought for LGBTQ rights and helped support wrongly convicted prisoners as part of the Innocence Project. Our hearts go out their children Romy and Jake. Along with paying tribute to Rob and Michelle, we also discuss actors who passed away in 2025 and honour them and their work. During the episodes, the brothers look and see how the aspects and portrayal of fascism shown in the film relate to current and/or past events.On this episode of Fascism On Film, the Holmes Brothers discuss the Jean-Luc Godard film Le Petit Soldat. After helping start the French New Wave with his influential film Breathless (À bout de souffle), Godard was set to make this his second film in 1960. But due to censorship and its provocative look at the French-Algerian War plus scenes of torture, it was not released in cinemas until 1963. The film is set in Geneva, Switzerland and it has the Algerian War happening in the background. Actress Anna Karina worked with Jean-Luc Godard for the first time on this project. They had a bit of tumultuous relationship and were together for four years. The two of them made a bunch of films together.
