In this passage, Paul continues to address the sin of the Jews. The Jews were self-confident in their knowledge of the Law, but actually didn’t practice what they preached. The Jews were self-confident in their circumcision, but what they really needed was in inward spiritual change through the new birth. Recently two influential evangelicals announced that they have left the faith and are no longer Christians. Joshua Harris, former pastor of a Covenant Life Sovereign Grace Church and best selling author, has "fallen away." Both Arminians and Calvinists agree with the Biblical truth of the moral and spiritual inability of sinners to come to faith in Christ.
