First off apologies for the crackling in the recording, will correct for next week. Sunday, December 6, 2020, 2 Peter - Uncovering False Teachers & Prophets. This is our 5th message in our study on this short yet powerful book. Peter is beginning in the 2nd chapter to uncover the false teachers and false prophets that were infiltrating the early church. We all know that anything false hates truth and it certainly doesn't want to be uncovered. The first thing that has to be done when dealing with any kind of issue is to first recognize that the issue exists. So this week we are defining what a false teacher and false prophet are and establishing how dangerous they are to a person and to the Church. Peter is writing to true believers about the false teachers, so this is going to be very direct and head-on. Sunday, November 29, 2020. We are continuing our study of 2 Peter - "Certainty of God's Truth". Today we are finishing up Chapter 1 where Peter is establishing the absolute Truth of God's Word as the very Word of God. He is setting up his argument against the false teachers that he begins to deal with in the next chapter. For us in today's mixed-up world we also need to be fully convinced as well that God's Word is absolute truth and can be trusted in every situation. We are building a solid foundation based on God's Holy Word. The more clearly we see and understand TRUTH the better we can stand against Partial-Truth which is a very serious enemy. Sunday, November 22, 2020. We're continuing in the study of 2 Peter and the title of today's message is "Making One's Election Sure". What does that mean? It means that we can have assurance of our eternal salvation while we are living in this upside-down crazy and evil world. That's what Peter is telling the early church in his day as they were beginning to deal with false teaching coming into the church. It's only been 30-some years since Jesus died and rose again and the church is already being bombarded with false teaching... No wonder our world is spinning so much more out of control with all the years the enemy has had since then. Peter is going to give us a good strategy to strengthen ourselves and to make our spiritual foundation strong and able to stand against the false narrative of his and our day. We need to "participate in the divine nature of God if we are going to experience His divine nature". Watch and study with us as we dig into the Living Word of God to make our election sure...

Sunday, Nov 15, 2020 - 2 Peter - Amazing & Increasing Grace. Today completes the introduction to this powerful 2nd letter that Peter wrote to those scattered about Asia Minor and all of us scattered around the world today. He begins by introducing himself as a "Slave or servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ." We discuss why this is an important way for him to introduce himself and how we also need to see ourselves as indebted to Christ as a slave. The second and most important thing we discuss in his introduction is that he asks God to grant us "more and more Grace" and peace. Grace is a hugely important word that we unveil today. I encourage you to watch and ask the Holy Spirit to bring God's grace alive in greater measure today, and every day that's ahead. Be blessed and grow in Grace...

Sunday, November 8, 2020 - "Learning to Lead". We're beginning a new study on 2 Peter - so today is the beginning of the introduction. I say that because it's gonna take two weeks to properly set the stage for this short yet powerful letter. Today we talk about how important it is that we build a solid foundation on the Word of God before we charge out to "change the world". And there's one more essential thing we must learn - that we must be a "good follower" before we can be a "good leader". Peter walked three years as Jesus's closest "disciple" before God called him to be an "apostle". Please don't rush thru or ignore this essential point. God uses the “humble follower” to become the “greatest leader”... Be Blessed...

Sunday, November 1, 2020 - The most important election in the history of our country is coming up in two days. I wonder how many people see the importance of their vote? Are they voting for the personalities of the candidates or are they voting for the principles of the platforms? For a few weeks, we have intentionally posted three simple words on our church sign - Vote Your Faith!! Today's message explains what this means as we discuss the "Three Must's of Faith". if we're going to be responsible Christians then "the three musts of your faith" are: you must know your faith, you must vote your faith and thirdly, you must live your faith. Sunday September 13 finishing up our study on the book of Malachi. The last time God spoke to the Jewish people for 400 years. That’s longer than the U.S. has been in existence. Malachi brings the good news of what it means to “Fear the Name of the Lord” after he makes clear that the justice of God's judgement is coming. The people have been asking the question of when and Malachi answers the question directly. There’s much we can learn from this if we’re willing to listen.

Sunday August 23, 2020 - We're continuing in our series on the Book of Malachi. Today we are in Chapter 3 and the message is titled "Should People Cheat God"? This is getting into the "meat" of God's Word and the question that Malachi brings to his people and to us is a very deep question with many facets. We may be asking, like the people did of Malachi: How do we cheat God? That's a great question. Are you ready to hear how God answers? So often people get offended when God answers questions, if only we would understand that God is for us all the time, even when we need to hear a stern answer. It's my prayer that we hear the Word of the Lord and we heed it and then trust God for His help in living it. Join us in this journey. Be blessed...

This is Sunday August 16, 2020 mornings message continuing the study on Malachi titled: "Prepare to be Refined". In this message we discuss the refining process that God will do on each person as they give their hearts to Jesus. This is a lifelong process that is hard and sometimes very difficult, yet in the end it produces a perfected person in the image of Christ. It's very important for us to realize that our "day one" of salvation is just the beginning, after that comes the process of living for Jesus and daily dying to ourselves and our sin, and that's the refining process. Continuing on in our series on the book of Malachi, pastor Mike titles the message today - "God's Calling to Faithfulness". What we uncover today is the importance of being faithful in our calling to be true followers of Jesus. Malachi explains to the people that God's covenant established with the priestly order of the Levites was being ignored by them and hence a curse rather than a blessing was on placed on the people. That's how serious being faithful is to God. God cannot break the covenant that He established with men, yet men can walk away from it simply because they are unfaithful. The call to action today is faithfully choose to walk in obedience to God's Word and trust God to be faithful to us. That requires a solid commitment from us that results in blessings from God...

Family Life Pastor - Tyler Branigan brings and encouraging word today that he titles - "What's the Worst that can Happen?". In this message Pastor Tyler encourages us all that no matter what is happening in our lives and in this crazy world that we're living in, God is still in control. He has a plan for each one of us and as we seek Him first and foremost, He will be faithful in meeting our needs. The problem most people face is that they don't keep their eyes focused on Christ, but more on the problems in life. We're encouraged to be like Peter walking on the water, as he focused on Jesus, he was on top of the waves, but the moment he saw the waves, he sunk only to have Jesus lift him up. Be encouraged today and keep your eyes on Jesus and let Him be the source of your strength.

Continuing our study on the Book of Malachi we talk today about "Giving our Best" to God. The people of Malachi's day were guilty of giving their second best to God in the form of sickly and crippled animals for their yearly sacrifices. They all knew better, but it was too hard to give God their best so they thought that God would accept their second best and still hear their prayers and give them His best. Applying this message to our day, are we any different? How many times have we offered our "seconds" and our "leftovers" to God thinking that He's pleased with us? Malachi deals with this misconception straight away, and it's wise of us to learn from him... Listen in and be challenged and encouraged when we realize how much God loves us...

We are continuing our study on the prophet Malachi and were dealing with honoring and respecting God and everything He is. The people of Malachi's day were preoccupied with many distractions of life and they found themselves giving God the "leftovers" of life in every way. Yet, they thought they were doing everything right and were still deserving of receiving the best from God. Malachi spoke truth, and of course truth can be uncomfortable. The Western perspective of being a Christian is very similar and thus there is much we can learn as we study this book. So journey with us today as we dig into the scripture and understand the message of Malachi in regard to honoring and respecting God...

We are moving from the introduction of the book of Malachi into the first part of the study. Malachi begins his rather upsetting conversation with the people of his day by reminding them that God has always loved them. They retort aggressively with him by asking "how has God loved us?". This begins the back and forth dialog with the people that characterize this entire book. Malachi goes directly to the Word of God to give them his answer. He doesn't mix God's Word with his feelings and emotions. This is great advice for us when we're doubting God's love for us as well. The whole theme of the Old and New testaments is God's love. There's so much to discuss, so I hope I can do justice in helping us understand how God loves and how we should love God back...

Today we are beginning a study on the last book of the Old Testament - Malachi. To have a proper place to begin this study on this very important yet short book of the Bible we need to have an understanding of the context of the day. So today's message is to set the stage, so to speak, of the conditions of the people that Malachi was speaking to. I believe that as we go through this study we will see how relevant it is to our lives today. Guest speaker, Pastor Leland Hart brings a very encouraging word for us titled - "How God Sees You". In this message he reminds us how much God as a loving father loves his children and how much he desires a relationship with them. God loves all people, but until a person knows how to love God back, God's love is limited. How do we love God back? By accepting the forgiveness that Jesus provides and living a life of obedience to God's Word is the only way we can love God as God loves us. That's the relationship that takes the limits off of God's love for you and me so that we can then be adopted into the "Family of God". This message "Fruit of Love" is the last of the series on the Fruit of the Spirit. Even though Love is mentioned as the first fruit, I'm speaking on it lastly because not only is it the beginning point of our relationship with Jesus, it is also the anchor point. Love holds all the Fruit together as a cluster of grapes grow and live together. If we could love and accept love as God does, we would be better people. Understatement of the year, I know, but it's the honest truth of the matter. We do good and we don't do harm to those that we truly LOVE. We're getting to the end of our study on the Fruit of the Holy Spirit. Today we are speaking on the "Fruit of Self-Control". This is a message that is timely to the situation that we find our country in. So much unrest and social issues primarily because people are not exercising Self-Control. However, as we have discovered in all of our study on the Fruit of the Spirit, this requires a "supernatural" work of the Holy Spirit. So a person, striving to exercise these fruit on their own is living a frustrating life of repeated failures. The reason we've been speaking about the person of the Holy Spirit for so many weeks is to build up to Pentecost Sunday. This is the day that the Holy Spirit was poured out on the disciples and close followers of Jesus in that upper room. They were waiting for the "gift" of the Holy Spirit that Jesus told them about on a few different occasions. Most recently, Jesus instructed them ten days prior just before Jesus ascended into the clouds. So here they are, waiting for something to happen that they had no idea what it would be, but they were obedient. This is the beginning of the first day of the "Church" and it changed their lives as well as the course of history. What's important for us today is that this same Holy Spirit is desiring to give us the same experience and the same power in our lives. Staying in our series "Understanding the Holy Spirit" we are talking about the Fruit of the Spirit today, namely the Fruit of Gentleness. What I have found so interesting is that I thought the Fruit of Kindness, Goodness and Gentleness would be the quickest and easiest ones to speak about, in fact I considered lumping them all into one sermon. But I'm so glad that I didn't. If God felt them necessary to list individually, then He must have good reason, and that He did. There is so much meat in these Fruit that I encourage you to listen intently, read the scriptures and ask God to supernaturally grow the fruit of Gentleness, among the others, in your life. As you do, your relationship with God and others will deepen and grow rich...
