On the show we will talk about the Sport of Kings. We will delve into the different features of the WinningPonies.com website. John Engelhardt will talk about the issues of the day that affect horse racing, such as synthetic surfaces, medication rule changes, the fate of the industry as a whole, VLTs and Casinos, and human interest stories of triumph and defeat. You will also hear our spot play of the week, where John will handicap the feature races for the upcoming weekend, and will give out his best plays. We will keep you abreast racings big events. Featured on the show will be guests (trainers, jockeys, jockeys agents, owners, and celebrity handicappers). Promotional giveaways will be featured, such as brand merchandise and free WinningCredits.Winning Ponies is broadcast live every Thursday at 8 PM Eastern/5 PM Pacific on the VoiceAmerica Variety Channel.

WP Welcomes Annoucer Mike Battaglia and Handicapper Jeremy Balan
07/03/2019 Duración: 56minThings are starting to ratchet up on the Kentucky Derby and Oaks trail with a total of eight points races contested over the weekend. There will be four for the ladies and four for the boys from coast to coast. At Turfway Park where they will celebrate their biggest day of racing on Saturday. Former announcer and track handicapper Mike Battaglia will join us to comment on the card focusing on the Grade 3, $200,000 Jeff Ruby Steaks that carries Derby points and the $100,000 Bourbonette Oaks that will gain Oaks points. DRF's Jeremy Balan, fresh off his first Eclipse Award for writing, will reflect on his award and give us his insights on the big races at Santa Anita over the weekend. The $500,000 San Felipe Stakes Saturday and Oaks points go to the girls on Sunday in the $100,000 Grade 3 Santa Ysabel Stakes. Jeremy recently penned a story in DRF about the rash of breakdowns occurring at Santa Anita since the start of the meet. He will update us on that situation.

Prior he served for five years as a Host, Analyst and Reporter on TVG. He won an Eclipse Award for his story titled The Revitalization and Renewal of Kentucky Downs. Brian will discuss 'Harvey Wallbanger' and the decision he made to move his tack to Gulfstream Park for the first time. Ryan Martin from the Fair Grounds will join John to handicap the outstanding card there on Saturday featuring 6 stakes races, four of them graded. A winner of numerous national writing awards for her coverage of Thoroughbred racing, Hughes has spent the last two years as a staff writer and racing editor at BloodHorse. Alicia will join us to discuss the transition to the new position and her role in the NTRA’s promotion of thoroughbred racing in the U.S. All eyes will be on Tampa Bay Downs this Saturday as the quaint track will feature 3 graded stakes races. Carrying points for the Kentucky Derby is the Grade 3 $250,000 Sam F. Davis Stakes. The solid undercard on the day is the Grade 3 $175,000 Lambholm Southern Endeavor Stakes; Grade 3 $175,000 Tampa Bay Stakes and the $150,000 Suncoast Stakes. He will talk about his vast exposure to different aspects of racing and specifically on his current position since November 1, 2018. In essence he has come full circle to administer the program that launched his career. Ryan Martin currently serves as Media Relations Coordinator for Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots and Notes Writer at Arlington International Racecourse. Fairgrounds' Saturday's card is graded stakes loaded. Ryan will join John and give us the inside track looking at the card that has SIX stakes races! They are highlighted by the $200,000 Grade 3 Lecomte Stakes and $150,000 Silverbulletday Stakes.

He and his wife Vicky made the decision to travel with their son Jack as he went to competition in the Midwest. It is a wonderful tour of the people they met and places Jack rode while cutting out his career in the book titled “Around Kentucky with the Bug!” Patrick will discuss his book and the background behind it. Ryan Martin grew up in Louisville, Ky. and has been a horse racing fan for as long as he can remember. Today, Ryan serves as Media Relations Coordinator for Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots and Notes Writer at Arlington International Racecourse. The Fair Grounds offers no less than six stakes races on Saturday and Ryan will join “Racing’s Regular Guy” John Engelhardt to analyze the race action.

Jockeys Guild Representative and Retired Jockey Abigail Fuller

The assembly was attended by active and retired jockeys from the Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse industries. Discussions were held on how to enhance the sport of horseracing. Regional Director Jeff Johnston or Guild Attorney Mindy Coleman will be our 1st guest and report on the event.. On July 6, 1985, Mom’s Command captured the 1 1/2-mile Coaching Club American Oaks by 2 1/2 lengths and with it, New York’s prestigious triple crown for fillies. The elated rider swept off a sweaty yellow helmet and set the crowd aroar when a cascade of auburn hair tumbled down over a pair of slender shoulders. But as Abigail Fuller discovered that giddy summer of a lifetime, racing’s road remained far from smooth for a female with the nerve to travel it. “Abby” is now Gulfstream Park’s Racing Ambassador. She will help John with some of the Graded Stakes races at Gulfstream Park..

WP Welcomes Old Friends' Michael Blowen and Handicapper Ryan Martin

Michael will tell us about some of the limited editions and how you can get them in time as a gift under the tree - or in the barn. WP Welcomes Trainer Kyle Rothfus and Handicapper Bob Roberts
29/11/2018 Duración: 55minKyle Rothfus who is a Retired Racehorse Project trainer & Mare / war horse specialist will take us through the story of Worthy of Wings, a hard knocking thoroughbred mare who not only had 138 starts, but survived the devastating hurricane in Puerto Rico. The efforts of many were able to help her find her way home in Ohio. Kyle has agreed to take her and retrain her for 2019. He will find her a good home after the makeover. Turf writer and handicapper Bob “Railbird” Roberts, a native of Cleveland will share stories of a man he shared a press box with for many years. Chuck Scaravilli, a man who wore many hats in racing over the decades, and died at age 90 in his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio on Nov. 17, 2018. Scaravilli galloped horses as a teenager, trained for almost 40 years, and worked for DRF from 1967 to 1997, at which time chart-calling was taken over by Equibase. Bob will join John to analyze the four graded stakes races at Aqueduct including the Grade 1 $750,000 Cigar Mile.

Eddie will discuss his recent efforts, book and his checkered past that involved a brush with Whitey Bolger's Winter Hill Gang. Ed Meyer will hopefully have his power back on, as he missed his pre-Breeders' Cup appearance last week. Ed will review the top Breeders' Cup races. He will join John to 'cap the Grade 3 $100,000 Commonwealth Turf at Churchill Downs and the $150,000 Artie Schuller and Atlantic Beach stakes from Aqueduct.

Dr. Politi will talk about his experience with owning thoroughbreds and specially owing this very talented filly Serengeti Empress who won her last by 19 lengths.. Managing Editor of Horse Racing Nation Brian Zipse will share his opinions on the upcoming Breeders' Cup races. Then he and John will handicap Keeneland's $200,000 Fayette Stakes (G2) and Belmont Park's $200,000 Bold Ruler Stakes (G3) and $100,000 English Channel and Awad Stakes.

Award Winning Writer Milt Toby and Handicapper Jonathan Kinchen

The book provides new clues related to the stallion’s disappearance. Milt will discuss his book. Jonathan Kinchen finished 2nd in the most recent Handicapping Contest at Keeneland. He will join John in 'capping a slew of NY State-Breds stakes at Belmont, also the Grade 2 $250,000 Lexus Raven Run Stakes at Keeneland. Kinchen, a 36-year-old realtor has taken the contest world by storm since playing his first tournament less than four years ago, and won four NHC qualifying contests in his first full year of play.

WP Welcomes Ex Jock Donna Barton and Handicapper Rich Ruda
11/10/2018 Duración: 54minDonna Barton Brothers will be our first guest. Born in a family of riders, Donna retired from the saddle as the second leading female jockey in the country by money earned. Donna will talk horses and wines... She will discuss with John the upcoming Breeders' Cup, the Fall Stars weekend, Starlight and StarLadies Racing, and she will also talk about Scout & Cellar Wines for whom she has become a consultant. She has an interesting story on how she got there.. Rich Ruda is the house handicapper at Thistledown and they will be hosting this year's Best of Ohio. It is Ohio's version of the Breeders' Cup with all divisional races carrying a $150,000 purse. Early entries show plenty of full fields, giving us plenty of wagering opportunities with great odds. This year could be a changing of the guard as there are plenty of fresh up and comers ready to match strides with past state champions.
